Brake Adjustment for Small Four Wheel Tractors

(1) Adjustment of the clearance between the brake shoes and the brake drum. The brake band riveted on the brake shoe block experiences eccentric wear due to long-term operation, resulting in an increase in the gap between the brake shoe and the brake drum. As a result, the braking torque generated during operation is correspondingly reduced, which cannot guarantee the normal and reliable operation of the brake. During a period of tractor operation, it is necessary to adjust the gap between the brake shoes and brake drums. The normal clearance should be 0.2mm-o.4mm. The adjustment method is to pad up the rear axle of the tractor, loosen the nut of the eccentric shaft, rotate the eccentric shaft to adjust until the clearance is appropriate, and then tighten the nut.

(2) Adjustment of the free stroke of the brake pedal. The free stroke of the pedal refers to the displacement measured from the highest position of the brake pedal to when there is significant resistance when pressing the pedal by hand. The normal stroke is 30-40 millimeters. The adjustment method is to loosen the locking nut of the brake lever, turn the brake to adjust the free stroke of the pedal, and lock the nut after adjustment.

(3) Adjust the consistency of the braking conditions of the left and right brakes. Inconsistent adjustment of the left and right brakes can cause inconsistency and "deviation" of the left and right wheels when the tractor is running at high speed and emergency braking occurs. Therefore, after adjusting the braking system, a consistency check of the braking situation should be carried out. If it meets the requirements, adjustments should be made in a timely manner. The adjustment method is to shorten the pull rod on the shorter side of the tire brake imprint, or adjust the pull rod on the longer side of the tire brake imprint until the imprint is consistent. Then tighten the nut.
